When you filter by a location in the Spotlight Directory, it currently shows you users within 125 miles from that location. However, it does not allow you to sort the users by the closest location. This new sort option would allow viewers of the directory to easily see who was the closest member to them, allowing them to easily identify people who are nearby for in-person work.
